Dispatch shows what Honolulu police were sent to respond to: calls for service. It is a faster, broader pulse than the settled monthly record, and it stays current while the official record is still settling.
What it is, and when it begins
It counts requests for police response, by call type, time, and area, from the HPD dispatch feed. Live coverage began February 2026, and its value grows as it builds a longer record. Feed outages are disclosed (undercounted, not zeroed) rather than hidden.
What it can tell you
What officers were being sent to right now, and how call volume moves week to week, faster than the recorded record can settle. It is a good early pulse.
What it cannot tell you
A call is not a confirmed crime. Many calls resolve as nothing, or as something other than what the caller reported. Dispatch is never counted as crime, and a burglary-type call is labeled as the closest call type, not a confirmed burglary.
