Reported is what the community saw and posted: submissions to the Stolen Stuff Hawaii network. It is unverified and alleged by design, and it is counted on its own axis, never mixed into the official total.
What it is, and when it begins
These are reports neighbors submit to the SSH community. Coverage at scale begins July 2025, extended back by verified historical SSH community records. Because it is a different instrument than the police record, where the two disagree is information, not error.
What it can tell you
It captures part of the "dark figure," incidents that never reach a police record, and it holds things no official record does: lost-and-found pets, scam warnings, suspicious activity. When Reported rises and Recorded does not, that gap is worth noticing.
What it cannot tell you
It is unverified: a report is an allegation, not a confirmed incident. We never reconcile it with the official record (that would double-count and invent a precision neither source has). And everything from community reports ships only as aggregate, de-identified, under-5-suppressed counts, never a raw caption, name, or address.
